Anwers !!! =P

Hey !!! Sryy I'm late again, but here are finally the answers for the quiz =)

1.
density

2. heavier

3. particle size

4. filter, solid

5. boiling points

6. condensed

7. evaporation

8. Temperature: If the substance is hotter, then evaporation will be faster.

Concentration: If the air already has a high concentration of the substance evaporating, then the given substance will evaporate more slowly.

Flow rate of air: If fresh air is moving over the substance all the time, then the concentration of the substance in the air is less likely to go up with time, so it evaporates faster.

Surface area: A substance which has a larger surface area will
evaporate faster as there are more surface molecules which are able to escape.

9. solid, gas

10. When a substance is sublime one component turns into a gas, while the other stays.

Quizz !!

Here's the quiz. I recomend you to amswer it, I know the topic is realy easy and all, but just to assure yourself. It won't take you long so don't be lazy .
I'll update the answers friday nigh. =P

1. Decantation works by the ____________ difference of the mixture's components.

2. Meaning that one component must be ___________ than the other one.

3. Filtration uses the difference of the component’s __________ _________ to separate the mixture.

4. For this to be possible you need a ___________ so it can retain the ___________ particles from the fluid.

5. If distillation works by the application and removal of heat, then means that the components must have different __________ _________.

6. To be able to separate a mixture using distillation, the first component to evaporate must be _____________ after, this way you’ll have both components separate in a liquid state.

7. _____________ is the process by which a substance changes from a liquid state to a gaseous one.

8. Explain how concentration, temperature, flow rate of air, and surface area can affect evaporation.

9. Sublimation is the state change form _________ to _________.

10. Explain how sublimation could work as a separating-mixture method.

Concept map =)

Hi ! So here is the concept map, I couldn't make it bigger so if you're not able to read it then tell me and i'll send it to you . =)

Separating - mixture methods !!

Hey !!!!!
Well .....sorry I didn't update sooner is just .......... i'm a little SLOW with new technology jajaja I had to bring someone to help me out, hahahah don't laugh , it's not funny =)

Now to the point... since i don't have movie maker i couldn't update my power point presentation but all the info is just below =D... if you still want the presentation just tell me and I'll send it to you. Well... I hope you understand our class, anyways if you have any doubts just ask.

See you tomorrow at school. Sweet dreams :)

Separating -mixture methods !!!

Decantation

Is a very quick method for separating a mixture of a liquid and a heavier solid.

Carefully pouring a solution from a container, leaving the precipitate in the bottom. It's generally used to separate a liquid from an insoluble solid.

Filtration

Is an operation that is used for the separation of solids from liquids or gases by interposing a medium to fluid flow through which the fluid can pass, but the solids in the fluid are retained.

Distillation

Is a process in which a liquid mixture of two or more substances is separated into its component fractions,by the application and removal of heat.

The usual purpose of distillation is the purification or separation of the components of a mixture.

Evaporation

Is the process by which molecules in a liquid state spontaneously become gaseous.

There are some factors that affect evaporation such as:

Concentration

Flow rate of air

Temperature

Surface area

Sublimation

Is a transition from the solid to gas phase with no intermediate liquid stage.

Just some elements or substances at some pressures the material may sublime.

This can occur if the atmospheric pressure exerted on the substance is too low to stop the molecules from escaping from the solid state.
