Separating - mixture methods !!

Hey !!!!!
Well .....sorry I didn't update sooner is just .......... i'm a little SLOW with new technology jajaja I had to bring someone to help me out, hahahah don't laugh , it's not funny =)

Now to the point... since i don't have movie maker i couldn't update my power point presentation but all the info is just below =D... if you still want the presentation just tell me and I'll send it to you. Well... I hope you understand our class, anyways if you have any doubts just ask.

Separating -mixture methods !!!


Decantation

Is a very quick method for separating a mixture of a liquid and a heavier solid.

Carefully pouring a solution from a container, leaving the precipitate in the bottom. It's generally used to separate a liquid from an insoluble solid.



Filtration

Is an operation that is used for the separation of solids from liquids or gases by interposing a medium to fluid flow through which the fluid can pass, but the solids in the fluid are retained.


Distillation

Is a process in which a liquid mixture of two or more substances is separated into its component fractions,by the application and removal of heat.

The usual purpose of distillation is the purification or separation of the components of a mixture.


Evaporation

Is the process by which molecules in a liquid state spontaneously become gaseous.

There are some factors that affect evaporation such as:

Concentration

Flow rate of air

Temperature

Surface area

Sublimation

Is a transition from the solid to gas phase with no intermediate liquid stage.

Just some elements or substances at some pressures the material may sublime.

This can occur if the atmospheric pressure exerted on the substance is too low to stop the molecules from escaping from the solid state.
